Each September junior children have the opportunity to attend a residential experience at the Porthpean Outdoor Education Centre near St. Austell.
During the three days pupils will experience climbing, high ropes, kayaking, canoeing, coast steering and archery. The purpose of the visit is to develop self-confidence, resilience, team working skills and to build positive relationship between all the adults and pupils in preparation for the year ahead. We find pupils applying many of these skills and attributes in other aspects of their learning once they return to school.
Early in the preceding term, trip leader Mark Goodright holds a briefing meeting for parents and all the relevant information is distributed. Children in receipt of Pupil Premium Funding receive a full subsidy for this activity.
